Really enjoyed your playing! What combo do you have for this F Bass?

I'm fortunate enought to own one. From may 82'. It's branded as "Fender Squier Series". The earliest ever made. When I bought it, 20 years ago, I knew it was a very special bass. The more I played it, the more I loved it. Mine is 2-tone sundburst.

Fantastic sounding bass man! I just purchased exactly the same bass. Only has a fender/ badass modern bridge (sounds fine, just ethnically looks wrong on a vintage bass). Do you know the exact model of the bass? Is it a 57,58 or a 59 reissue? I am looking for a replacement bridge

I have an American made 1985, I bought in 1986 because it was old stock, it had the us serial numbers, but most were made in Japan. I bought mine brand new at Mothers Music in Surrey BC

Hi. I have one from the 1992 Japanese bash. The one I own have rosewood fingerboard. The body is basswood, not alder. In terms of overall sound and tone mine is so close to yours that is astounding, even with different fingerboards. I would say that the "secret" in this beatiful tone is the ceramic split coil pick-up. Ceramic magnets have this rounder, flatter (not a bad word, in terms of string volume 😉), hotter output, and character, in comparison to the features in alnico pick-ups, usually found on Fenders. Honestly, I cannot let my Squier quiet. I play it almost everyday. It is simply amazing. Great instrument you have there. Cheers from Brazil!

Yeah, those 80s Japanese p basses and guitars in general all have a certain beautiful hollow haunting honk sound to them you unlike what you'll on modern American p basses.

I just got the Meatbox for my 5 strings bass. It doesn’t work on most positions on 4th and 5th string, tho. Hulk works better on lower notes (strings)?

I own all three, though mine is the Density Hulk(4 knobs). In my rig, MEATBOX hits the subs hard and best left alone in a live setting. Hulk follows close behind as it being a clone and all. OC2 suited for synth like sub and the best of the 3 to record with.
